Nextera Energy representatives presented a $50,000 check to McCamey Middle School on Feb. 25 to support the district’s STEM program. Erin Nelson, identified in the meeting minutes as Nextera’s wind-site manager, described the company’s grant work in Texas and thanked teachers and board members.
"He hopes that this inspires the students and community in the stem program," Erin Nelson said during the presentation. The donation was presented alongside student recognitions; board members and school staff photographed students, teachers and trustees with the check. The presentation occurred during the special recognition portion of the meeting and did not require a board vote.
