Mansfield ISD teacher says Early College students achieved 100% associate-degree attainment

Ricardo Pontifez, a biology teacher at Early College High School, told attendees that students in the districtearly-college program graduate with an associate degree and are positioned to continue to four-year programs and careers. "We also obtained a 100% associate's attainment, which is the end goal for our program," Pontifez said, describing degree completion as the primary objective.
Pontifez said students take high school and college courses at the same time through the Early College model and that the program provides supports for students who may be the first in their families to attend college, including study skills, test-preparation help, note-taking guidance and assistance applying for scholarships. He also said he takes pride in the program's End-of-Course (EOC) scores for his subject. "I'm Ricardo Pontifez, biology teacher at Early College High School, and we help prepare the next generation of leaders," he added, concluding, "We are Mansfield ISD."
