The Panhandle Independent School District Board of Trustees met in special session on April 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the administration building boardroom for a budget workshop attended by five trustees and district staff. Trustees in attendance were Nick Kuehler, Jeromy Adair, Jason Davis, Zach Robinson and Nikki Biggs.
During the workshop the board reviewed district policies, procedures and rules that govern the school budget and discussed roles and responsibilities in budget development and oversight. Revenue sources were identified and considered alongside expense lines; trustees and staff examined how expenses relate to the overall budget and discussed possibilities to increase revenues and options to control spending.
The board also reviewed a brief history of tax revenues, tax rates, the district's fund balance and recent enrollment figures. Meeting participants acknowledged uncontrollable aspects of the budget — items outside local control — while noting opportunities to bolster revenues or reduce costs through programmatic or operational changes.
No formal motions or votes were taken during the workshop. The discussion was presented as an informational review of budget posture and potential next steps for later budget planning and decisionmaking.
