Panhandle ISD reports enrollment decline, previews 2026–27 budget and summer projects

During the April 21 meeting Blair Brown presented the district report and said there were 578 total students enrolled as of April 17, which represents 48 fewer students than the 2024–2025 snapshot day.
Brown also provided campus-level counts (Elementary 275, Junior High 132, High School 171) and reviewed preliminary 2026–2027 budget items including salary schedules, taxable values, tax rates and local optional homestead exemptions. The board discussed summer projects and staff flagged procurement items such as a groundskeeping RFP and parking lot repair proposals for further consideration.
