Dome gym renovation 15% complete; asbestos discovered in coaches' office, board approves bond-fund expenditure

BRW Architects' Jeff Choyce told the Nederland ISD Board that the dome gym renovation is roughly 15% complete and showed photos of demolition work. Choyce said the project has a substantial-completion target of August 11. Dr. Steven Beagle informed trustees that asbestos was discovered in the coaches' office during demolition and that remediation will be completed as a short process.
Cody Meaux asked the board to approve a resolution authorizing expenditure of bond funds to remain compliant with the district’s spending plan in light of COVID and supply-chain impacts. The board approved the resolution unanimously (motion Mosley, second Albanese; vote 7–0).
