Camille Barigar of the Idaho Advanced Energy Consortium presented an informational request for information (RFI) about siting small energy reactors for testing. Barigar told commissioners the reports she has seen indicate the reactors "should be viable within the next ten years," and she emphasized that submitting the RFI does not legally bind the county to host a reactor.
Commissioners asked about company background and whether the project was linked to INL; Barigar said the proposal comes from a separate company based in Boise and that further information and public meetings would be appropriate. The board agreed to submit the RFI with the limited option of gathering information and to schedule outreach before any decision on siting.
