Pilot Point ISD trustees on April 8 authorized the district police chief to submit four Office of the Governor grant applications totaling $63,849.42.
Chief Eric Dortch outlined the grant requests: the ALERRT Travel Assistance Grant for $2,763.23, Active Attack Response Equipment for $5,244.99, Criminal Justice Grant Program—Specialized Training for $42,166.20, and a Crisis Intervention Grant for $13,675.00. The Board voted unanimously to allow Chief Dortch to apply on behalf of the district. If awarded, the grants would fund training and equipment purchases without using district resources.
The approvals were limited to authorizing application submission; any subsequent acceptance of awards and purchases would require standard procurement and reporting procedures.
