Board grants superintendent temporary authority to approve special education contracts

Pilot Point ISD trustees authorized Superintendent Dr. Shannon Fuller to approve time-sensitive special education contracts between March 5 and May 13, 2026, to help the district staff new positions following a transition of services from the Denton County Co-op. Dr. Fuller told trustees the positions are "highly competitive and time-sensitive," and the requested temporary authority is intended to secure qualified candidates before the start of the school year.
"Many of these positions are highly competitive and time-sensitive, requiring flexibility and prompt hiring decisions to secure qualified candidates and ensure appropriate staffing levels before the start of school," Dr. Fuller said. The motion to grant authority was made by Justin Chance, seconded by Lora Renfro, and passed unanimously.
