The Pilot Point Independent School District Board of Trustees on Feb. 9 voted to call a bond election for May 2, 2026, placing Proposition A in the amount of $295 million before district voters.
The decision followed a presentation from the Long Range Planning/Bond Steering Committee that included updated demographic projections and bond financial information. "I move that the Board adopt an order calling a bond election to be held on May 2, 2026, with Proposition A in the amount of $295 million," said Trustee Amy McEvoy, who made the motion. The motion was seconded by Trustee Justin Chance and passed unanimously, 6–0.
District leadership told trustees the committee reconvened in January 2026 to review new demographic data and recommended calling the bond based on anticipated growth and facility needs. The board did not adopt detailed project lists in the public minutes; the motion recorded the dollar amount and election date only.
The board also approved a joint election agreement with Denton County Election Services to administer the May election and to absorb registered voters in portions of Cooke and Grayson counties for a consolidated process; costs will be prorated after final entity counts are determined.
The next step for the district is to finalize ballot language and project lists as required by law and to publicize election materials to voters ahead of the May 2 election.
