PSJA board approves multiple contracts: auditorium A/V, TexPREP, workers' comp admin and vehicle lease

The Pharr‑San Juan‑Alamo ISD board approved multiple contract and procurement items Feb. 23, authorizing capital and service spending for district operations and student programming. Rafael Gonzalez presented A/V proposals for the PSJA auditorium (Osodome) and recommended awarding contracts to Hermes Trading Co., Inc. and Audio Visual Aids for a combined total listed in the packet; the motion to approve the awards carried unanimously. Finance staff reported that Claims Administrative Services, Inc. (CAS) was the highest‑ranked and lowest‑cost vendor to administer the district’s workers’ compensation program; trustees approved the award. The board also approved an interlocal cooperation contract with UTRGV to provide the TexPREP summer engineering program (June 8–July 10, 2026) for middle‑school students at an estimated total cost of $37,825. Rafael Gonzalez described a master open‑end vehicle lease with Commercial Vehicle Leasing, LLC (dba D & M Leasing) to lease ready‑fitted vehicles as needed; he said leasing 10 retrofitted vehicles would cost roughly $94,000 annually and would include maintenance. Mrs. Rebecca Gonzales and Mr. Gonzalez answered trustees’ questions about procurement process, budget comparisons and vendor selection.
