PSJA adopts Calendar A for 2026–27 and highlights district attendance strategies

Trustees unanimously approved Calendar A for the 2026–2027 school year after districtwide staff voting (Calendar A: 1,426 votes). Calendar A sets students’ start date at Aug. 24, 2026, and a student calendar totaling 175 days. Assistant Superintendent Dr. Orlando Noyola presented voting results and explained the staff-driven selection process.
Dr. Noyola also reviewed TEA’s Student Attendance Accounting Handbook (SAAH), underscoring rules for alternative attendance-taking (dual-credit, work-based learning, and off-campus activities) and documentation requirements for audit purposes. He presented campus six-week attendance percentages (district total average 94.08%) and described incentives used to increase attendance, including six-week champion awards, student incentive checks, campus banners and targeted campus attendance plans.
