Service director updates council on water-plant progress, sludge-holding equipment and repairs

Service Director Liggett gave a detailed update on water, sewer and street operations. He said the city is in current construction for new sludge-holding equipment and that there have been several recent leak repairs at the library, Central Station Place and Buena Vista.
Liggett also described ongoing weekly project meetings for the water plant and said, "There are a couple final EPA approvals that we're still waiting on, but we're in preparation to bid that project." He told council the advertisement for the project is targeted for the end of August or September to keep the project on track.
On streets, Liggett said bids for mill-and-fill work were received for Leafy Dale and Pershing Drives and that the low bid was returned; he noted the city is attempting to schedule work before school if possible but that contract terms may push work later in the season. He also reported the microsealing and crack repairs on Concord Road and Buena Vista and said striping should follow once materials set.
Council asked clarifying questions about schedules, the status of utility flags and whether residents could remove blue marker flags placed for infrastructure work; Liggett confirmed flags should remain in place until work is complete.
