Port Neches-Groves ISD board votes not to adopt SB11 "period of prayer" resolution

The motion was seconded by Trustee Sarah Hardin and passed with all six present trustees recorded as voting yea. The motion followed a patron comment expressing concerns about the implications of the resolution.
During the public comment portion, Tiffany Perkinz told trustees she was concerned about the proposed resolution and its requirements under Education Code 25.0823. The board took the matter up later in the agenda and recorded the formal motion and vote declining adoption. The board provided no amendment or alternate language during the meeting; the vote was to not adopt the resolution as presented.
