CRA approves fencing and signage grant for Mount Olive AME Church

Staff presenter Xavier Clong told the board the lowest contractor estimate for the project was $127,506.62, making the church’s requested reimbursement $63,753.31 under the program’s 50% Tier 2 parameters and the program cap of $200,000. Clong said, “They are applying for new fencing as well as new signage.” Pastor James Givens expressed the congregation’s gratitude and outlined the project’s purpose, citing the need to address a recurring problem of people sleeping near dumpsters on the site and to keep the property “up to code.”
The motion to approve the grant was moved and seconded by commissioners and carried by voice vote.
