Small downtown law firm wins $5,565 resilience grant after explaining shared-wall constraints

The Community Redevelopment Agency approved a storm resilience grant of up to $5,565.75 for Ringsmith Day & O'Halloran at 2215 1st Street after the applicant explained structural constraints that limit mitigation options. Danielle Halloran, the managing partner and the applicant, described the building as "cobbled together" with shared walls and said she can protect the storefront but not the rear wall that abuts a neighboring business.
Halloran told commissioners she has purchased some front-door protections and would "join in" a neighbor's application if the adjacent business submits one. Staff recommended the grant and the recording secretary read the recommendation; the motion was moved, seconded and passed by unanimous voice vote.
