Panhandle ISD reports enrollment dip and no mediation in former aide litigation

"As of March 11, there were 574 total students enrolled in Panhandle’s school system," Brown reported, saying that figure represents "fifty-two less students than on the 2024-2025 snapshot day." Brown also relayed the counsel's recommendation that there will be no mediation regarding the legal matters related to litigation with a former education aide.
The report included a campus enrollment breakdown: 269 students at the elementary campus, 132 at the junior high, and 173 at the high school. Trustees did not take further public action on the litigation at the meeting; the executive session earlier in the evening had been convened under Texas Government Code provisions for attorney consultation and personnel matters.
Board members are scheduled to reconvene for routine matters and further budget planning at meetings set for April 21 and May 19, when district staff may provide updated enrollment and litigation briefings.
