The Pampa ISD Board completed a required annual review of the cafeteria charge policy; staff said there were no policy changes but the review is required by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). Kelley Porter told trustees the policy remains the same and explained charge-account practices.
Porter said, "We have about $30,000 in bad debt," and trustees asked whether the district should increase outreach to families to complete free/reduced-price meal applications. The board approved the policy review as presented. The discussion directed staff to continue outreach and monitor outstanding balances to reduce bad debt going forward.
The policy approved by the board retains existing charge rules; staff will report back if any operational changes are proposed.
