The Port Aransas Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 6-0 April 27 to extend probationary educator contracts for the 2026–2027 school year for Maria Shanks, Lanie Frazier and Julie Lang.
Board Member Marnie Pate moved, seconded by Secretary Daniel Johnson, "to extend a probationary educator contracts for the 2026-2027 school year to the following: Maria Shanks, Lanie Frazier and Julie Lang." The motion passed on a roll-call vote: Kristi Littleton, Brett Stawar, Daniel Johnson, Marnie Pate, Charles Joyce and Marc Hofhiens voted yes; Leslie Mills was absent.
The vote followed the board's return to open session at 6:44 p.m. after a closed session convened under the Texas Open Meetings Act to discuss personnel and administrator contracts. Board President Kristi Littleton "indicated no action to be taken on this agenda item" concerning a proposed termination before the board approved the contract extensions.
The board meeting began at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the PAISD Administration Building. Administrators listed included Dr. Sharon McKinney and Tisha Piwetz. With no further business, the special meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
