During the public communication portion of the Nov. 20 meeting, visitor Israel Smith spoke regarding the Mokena Elementary School Playscape, The Imagination Station, and presented Superintendent Steve Stein with an album of photos documenting the project. The minutes note additional community recognition: a video by Mokena Junior High students and posters and cards from MES and MIS students were on display.
Later in the meeting the board approved consent agenda item VII.D.2 authorizing public or private sale (or possible disposal) of playscape pieces. The action was recorded as part of the consent agenda approved by roll call (7–0). The board's information items earlier in the meeting also listed an MES/MIS play area budget increase; no dollar amount for that budget change was included in the open minutes. The minutes do not record additional public testimony on the disposal action nor a detailed inventory of pieces to be sold or disposed.
