The Mokena School District 159 Board on Nov. 20 voted to approve the district's tentative 2024 tax levy. The motion to approve the tentative levy was made by Mr. Jim Andresen and seconded by Mrs. Lisa Zielinski; the motion carried 7–0.
Chief School Business Official Dr. Teri Shaw presented the levy overview and said the district's priority "has been to maintain a stable tax rate; The District has the lowest tax rate of any of the Lincoln‑Way feeder districts." She also announced that the Truth in Taxation hearing is scheduled for December, when the board will adopt a final levy if it chooses to do so.
The minutes record the approval of the tentative levy on the consent/action calendar but do not include specific levy rate figures in the open minutes. The board placed the hearing on the December agenda for a formal Truth in Taxation public hearing and possible levy adoption.
