Cayuga County awards $15,000 in NY250 grants to local historical and cultural groups

Debra Dennis, with the Cayuga County Youth Bureau, said the NY250 fund received 19 applications requesting more than $40,000; the available pool was $15,000. Dennis listed the award recipients, which include Aurora Ledyard Historical Society; Canal Society of NYS; Cayuga County Historian; Frontenac Historical Society; Historical and Cultural Sites Commission; Old Mentz Heritage Center; Schweinfurth Art Center; Seward House; The Press of Robert LoMascolo; Village of Union Springs; Ward O'Hara Museum; and Save Our Fourth Association (Fair Haven).
Dennis said 2026 Youth Bureau-funded programs are at varying stages of their contracts: some have concluded and others are getting started. The committee did not announce individual award amounts for each recipient in the meeting record.
