Premont Independent School District trustees approved districtwide early-years literacy and math goals at their June 23 regular meeting. Trustee F. Gutierrez moved to adopt the June Goal 1 (Early Years Literacy: GPM 1.1–1.3, EOY mClass) and Goal 2 (Early Years Math: GPM 2.1–2.3, EOY iReady); Trustee C. Morales seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously among members present.
The board received the goals as an administration presentation that tied literacy measures to end-of-year mClass assessments and math measures to iReady outcomes. Administration presented the goals as the district’s focus for early childhood instruction and benchmarks for end-of-year progress monitoring.
Board President Irma M. Johnson opened the meeting by stating, "Let the record show that a quorum of board members is present, that this meeting has been duly called and that notice of this meeting has been posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551." The board’s approval means the district will proceed with the specified progress-monitoring metrics for the 2025–2026 reporting cycle; specific implementation steps and timelines were presented by administration during the item and will be tracked through regular reports to the board.
