The Faribault County Drainage Authority voted unanimously on July 21, 2026, to set a public hearing on repairs to Lateral 174 of County Ditch #41. The board approved Resolution 26-DA-22 ordering the hearing for Aug. 18, 2026, at 11:15 a.m. in the Faribault County Courthouse Board Room in Blue Earth.
The resolution records five explicit findings: the board is the drainage authority for County Ditch #41; drainage complaints were reported on Lateral 174; a spring 2026 inspection found the lateral in disrepair; an informational meeting was held July 10, 2026, with notice mailed to likely-affected owners and political subdivisions; and a repair report was filed with the Faribault County Auditor on July 21, 2026. Citing Minn. Stat. § 103E.715, subd. 3, the board directed that notice of the time and location be mailed at least ten days before the hearing.
The motion to adopt Resolution 26-DA-22 carried unanimously. Commissioners Paschke, Young, Groskreutz, Loveall and Anderson voted yes. The hearing will provide an opportunity for affected landowners and political subdivisions to review the staff repair report and offer testimony before the drainage authority makes a final decision on repairs and any assessments.
The board took no further substantive action on the repair report at the July 21 session; the next formal step is the Aug. 18 public hearing where the board will receive public comment and consider final orders under statutory procedures.
