On third reading the Horry County Council adopted Ordinance 39-2025 to raise revenue, make appropriations and adopt the budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026.
The public hearing drew a brief comment from resident Vincent Lohutsky, who said county funding for the Myrtle Beach Jazz Festival should not create exclusive VIP areas that limit public access to performance spaces. "If we're giving money to such an event that the VIP section should be off to the side so that the rest of the county whose taxes are going towards this event, can dance and frolic in front of the stage all they want," Lohutsky said.
After closing the hearing, council moved and approved third reading of the budget ordinance by voice vote. No members asked for additional amendments during the session recorded on May 20.
