Veterans services lists appointments, outreach and memorial plans for late May and June

Kevin Swab, director of Veterans services, summarized outreach and casework activity for the committee, citing coordination of 68 Syracuse VAMC appointments and assistance with more than 17 benefits or records actions. "Assisted with 17+ new actions including Veteran Benefits Claims, Records Requests, Health Care Applications, Death, Burial and Survivor Benefits," Swab reported, and he listed recurring outreach efforts including monthly lunches and free fitness memberships for veterans in several communities.
Swab also outlined upcoming events and memorial work: a Robert Stryker memorial service is scheduled for May 24 at Pine Hill Cemetery in Throop, a Women Veteran Event on June 3 at Willard Chapel, and continued work to identify Vietnam veterans and widows eligible for benefits and the In Memory Program. The Veterans office said it is accepting ideas for outreach in 2026 and is working to reactivate a local AMVETS post.
