Members of a Horry County board voted to adopt a new meeting calendar that will move the body to an every-other-month schedule starting January 2026. The board approved the change by voice vote after staff presented a proposal that aims to reduce scheduled meetings in months when the board typically has little business.
The move grew out of a staff proposal that outlined two options: keep monthly meetings except December and July, or meet only six times a year. Staff noted the draft calendar preserves five regular meetings and the annual awards ceremony in May for historic preservation month. Chair said special meetings could be called if an application needed prompt action. “And it starts in January 2026,” the Chair said. The board’s motion to adopt the every-other-month schedule was made and seconded and passed after a voice vote; no opposing votes were recorded on the audio transcript.
