Commissioners set June 2 public hearings for multiple rezoning requests

The board agreed to set public hearings on June 2, 2026 for several Planning Department items. James Burroughs requested rezoning of Parcel 24534 (1.4 acres at 643 E. Sanders Road) from Rural Agriculture to Residential; Collin Myers requested rezoning of Parcel 51487 (0.55 acres along County Line Rd/Highway 216) from General Business to Residential; and Dwayne Blanton requested rezoning of three adjoining parcels (5.58 acres near Highway 180/S. Post Rd.) from Residential to Manufactured Homes and Parks. The board also set a hearing on Don Peeler’s petition to abandon an unpaved right-of-way off 107 Valentine Drive; if approved the abandoned right-of-way would revert to adjoining properties.
Chairman Kevin Gordon previously announced the postponement of Planning Case 26-10 to June 2 to allow the Planning Board time to review and issue a recommendation. All of these hearing requests were approved by unanimous vote to be heard at the June 2 meeting.
