Commissioners approve multiple budget amendments including $400,573 for E-911 center

During the May 5 meeting the board approved a series of budget amendments and grants covering public safety, education, community programs and donations.
Significant items approved included a $400,573 allocation to the E-911 Center capital project to cover project additions and change orders, approved as part of Sheriff’s Office BNA #077. The board also approved $20,957 from state forfeiture funds for the Sheriff’s Office (BNA #078) to cover postcard mailer costs. For community programs, the board approved a $102,500 allocation for the Kings Mountain Farmers Market and Master Gardeners (BNA #064) and a $75,000 allocation to Pinnacle Classical Academy to fund a robotics Fab Lab (BNA #063). Animal Services received an $8,200 donation recorded from Best Friends Animal Society (BNA #079), and the Foothills Public Shooting Range received a small grant of $1,024 (BNA #080).
Each consent agenda item was moved by Commissioner Deb Hardin and seconded by Commissioner Tony Berry and approved unanimously. The board also approved a tax refund request of $79,289.54 under N.C. Gen. Stat. §105-312 to Albemarle Us, Inc., following the Tax Assessor’s recommendation.
