Navarro ISD reports steady progress on stadium, new elementary and campus renovations

AG/CM project manager Melisa Nu'u told the Board that construction tied to the district's 2021 and 2024 bond programs is advancing across multiple sites.
"visitor grandstands currently underway and track surfacing nearing completion," Nu'u reported, and she said tennis-court coatings are about half finished and a new scoreboard structure is visible from the roadway. At the fieldhouse, ceiling installation and painting are underway and the visitor amenities building is nearing completion with furniture delivery scheduled for early August.
At the new elementary campus, crews completed the final foundation pour for the gym area and have moved into vertical construction, with steel erection active and structural masonry work beginning in the kitchen. Road expansion work is complete and sidewalks and drainage are progressing.
Renovations at the junior high included replacement of more than half of the building's control systems as part of a chiller and controls upgrade, plus interior finishes such as corridor painting and ceiling installation. During annex demolition, contractors discovered outdated wiring above ceilings; Nu'u said the project team is coordinating with architects to remediate those conditions and keep the schedule on track. Weekly coordination meetings are ongoing to identify and manage unforeseen conditions.
Board members asked about sequencing to minimize disruptions; Nu'u and staff said most larger refresh work will be scheduled for summer phases, with only limited work during the school year when feasible.
