Staff reported they have been meeting with department heads to draft an updated personnel policy and that the effort will involve multiple sessions to ensure departmental input and enforceability.
"Today, we looked at earned sick and safe time and other sick time," staff (S5) said, describing the policy as longer than past versions because of recent state-level changes. Staff said the next meeting will include attendance policy and discussion of just-cause provisions for disciplinary action, and that department heads will help test the draft policies for operational fit.
The council discussed involving department managers early in the drafting process so they understand enforcement responsibilities and can provide input on practical implications. Staff said the goal is to have a working document by the end of the year, but the schedule is contingent on continued review and feedback.
