Horry County Council commends firefighters and mutual-aid partners for Carolina Forest wildfire response

Council adopted Resolution R75-76-2025 commending Horry County Fire Rescue, mutual-aid agencies and community partners for their work responding to the March 1 Carolina Forest wildfire. Chief Tanner (speaker 10) described the scale of the response: “Over 1,500 firefighters came to assist Horry County,” and he thanked state and federal partners as well as local departments for coordinated support.
Officials said crews worked daily for 92 days and that rainfall had brought the incident to 100% containment and control at the time of the meeting, though officials noted post-fire conditions still require monitoring. The resolution was presented during the meeting’s presentations; councilmembers and staff expressed appreciation for firefighters, mutual aid and departmental coordination during the multiagency response.
