Horry County Council adopted a proclamation recognizing June 28–29 as Amateur Radio Days and praised volunteer radio operators for serving as emergency backup communicators. Randy Webster (speaker 6) and Todd Rush (speaker 7), president of the Grand Strand Amateur Radio Club, described the volunteers’ role during storms and invited the public to Field Day activities. “On behalf of Grand Strand Amateur Radio Club and all of its members, I would like to thank all the commissioners for proclaiming amateur radio week 2025,” Rush said.
The council also adopted a resolution congratulating the Aynor High School Lady Blue Jackets on winning the 2025 South Carolina Class 3A state championship. Councilmembers and community coaches noted six seniors will continue to play at the collegiate level. Coach Tony Veil (speaker 11) and parent/assistant Stevie Brown (speaker 12) thanked the council and highlighted the team’s success; the resolution passed unanimously.
Both recognitions were presented during the meeting’s presentation segment and drew applause from commissioners and attendees.
