Sam Hogg presented a request for a resolution recognizing Amateur Radio Field Day on June 28–29 and described radio operators’ volunteer work during emergencies, public events and weather warning networks.
He told the council the field day is a 24-hour exercise during which operators run off auxiliary power and deploy antennas to maintain communications across the country. Hogg asked for the council’s support for a resolution honoring the amateur radio community; a council member moved the resolution and it passed by voice vote.
Hogg noted local operations will be centered at Trinity United Methodist Church in Conway for this field day and asked that the county help publicize the event via access channels and banners.
