Horry County council approves $700,000 in ARPA interest to shore up behavioral services and senior meals

A council member moved to adopt staff’s recommendation and the motion was seconded. The chair called for a voice vote; the council approved the allocation by unanimous “aye.”
The funding is drawn from interest earned on ARPA allocations and is intended to support both immediate services and the start-up needs of the behavioral services department. The county did not provide a timeline for disbursement beyond the approval recorded at the meeting. The council did not attach additional conditions to the funding during the vote.
