At its June 5 meeting the Horry County Planning Commission took the following actions:
- Street names (multiple postal districts): Approved by voice vote (staff presentation of names such as Adeline Drive, Manor Drive, Helios Drive). - Grayson 007 (Society Drive small rezone and future land-use amendment): Approved. - Ashley Circle (development agreement and rezoning for 43 single-family homes): Motion to approve failed after resident testimony concerning flooding and traffic safety. - McGrayson 001 (Yellow Jasmine / Hwy 544 auto/RV repair rezoning to RE4): Approved on staff recommendation. - Grayson (Saugustee Boulevard fitness center regularization): Approved (rezoning to legalize an existing unpermitted fitness use). - Grayson 004 (1.66 acres to MA1 for display area): Approved. - Grayson 005 (7.1 acres to RE4 on Highway 9): Approved. - Highway 701 DA and rezoning (79.48 acres to MA2/MA3 with DA): Approved with DA commitments including buffers, truck wash provision and a developer contribution for public improvements.
Chair (speaker 1) closed the meeting after the final adjournment motion. Where staff recommended approval, the commission typically voted in favor by voice; contested items included Ashley Circle (failed) and the Highway 701 industrial rezoning (approved after extended public comment).
