Jacksonville will absorb new $10 county bulky‑waste disposal fee for residents for one year

Assistant Director Bud McConnors said the city historically picked up three bulk items free per household and estimated mattress disposal collections at roughly $2,000 a month. He warned the fee could change resident behavior (leading to more illegal dumping) if passed directly to residents without outreach and education; staff will reassess the financial impact for FY28 planning.
