Steuben County allocates $3.03 million to road projects, accepts CHIPS and PaveNY funds

The Finance Committee approved several transportation funding actions that will support road and bridge work across Steuben County. Members accepted accumulated 2025-2026 rollover funds (CHIPS $1,643,178.03; Pave Our Potholes $12,803.87; PaveNY $47,446.47; Extreme Winter Recovery $853,307.06) and accepted 2026-2027 allocations (CHIPS $7,000,093.61; PaveNY $1,516,725.10; Pave Our Potholes $1,011,150.07), all appropriated to the Road Improvement unassigned account.
The committee also approved allocating $3,030,000 from the Road Improvement unassigned account to specific projects and equipment: $180,000 to CR1 Burr Hollow Road; $80,000 to CR71 Jasper/North Jasper Road; $145,000 to CR72 Dennis Corners Road; $300,000 to CR84 Squad Hollow Road; $100,000 to CR95 Day Road; $275,000 to CR106 Church Creek Road; $700,000 to surface treatments; $1,000,000 to equipment; and $250,000 to CR4 Cohocton. In addition, the committee accepted $988,567.50 in 2026-2027 Extreme Winter Recovery funds for the Bridge unassigned account and appropriated $310,000 from that account to CR21 and CR46 bridge projects ($155,000 each). Motions carried unanimously (5-0).
