Road & Bridge Administrator Chris Smith reported department work on shoulders along Old 81 and completion of a ditch project on Nugget Road; he said staff will move on to other ditch work. Smith presented a Right of Way use permit from G.L. Huyett; staff recommended approval and the commission reached consensus to approve the permit.
Smith said there are three critical bridges in the county but they are "still in the yellow not red." He said he will coordinate with the sheriff on speed-limit signage in Wells and Niles and return with a proposed resolution. Smith also noted the shop air compressor needs replacement and that he gathered information about grants at the Kansas Association of Counties conference he attended.
The commission did not take additional formal votes on bridge funding but discussed the need to continue increasing the bridge budget.
