County considers fire-alarm upgrade; staff raises ADA concerns about proposed war memorial

Building Supervisor Keith Coleman told commissioners he had received a bid from Wilson Security for $27,650.00 to replace buzzer-only alerts with smoke detectors and strobes and said he is awaiting a second bid from R&L Electric.
Coleman said there are currently 12 smoke detectors and a heat detector in the boiler room and that the Wilson Security bid would bring the building closer to code by adding strobes and detectors on each floor. He also raised accessibility concerns about a proposed war memorial wall at the courthouse, saying it could create ADA compliance issues; he emphasized that the front entrance and stairs already need replacement regardless of a memorial.
Commissioners asked staff to continue collecting bids and to consider accessibility implications before advancing any memorial plans.
