Fire chief outlines park training event, life-saving water rescue and Knox program plans

Fire Chief Jeremy Haddix reported that Cartoon Headquarters plans a three-day event in the park in late May or early June featuring multiple fire training demonstrations across the three days; the Nutter Fort Fire Department will cover training costs and provide apparatus. The Friday of the event will include a presentation to honor first responders, nurses, military and veterans.
Chief Haddix also described a recent water rescue in which Fire, EMS and Public Works personnel worked together and "a life was saved," according to the report given to council. Deputy Chief Nathan Rohrbough is working to initiate a Knox Program for commercial properties; Chief Haddix said more information would be available in the future.
