EDA outlines business breakfast presentation and downtown aesthetics concepts

Dan said he will lead this years EDA business breakfast and showed a proposed time split: roughly 10 minutes for project updates and the remainder for the downtown aesthetics presentation and Q&A. He said the architectural firm approved to produce concepts will present sketches for buildings bordering the Park Street parking lot and that owners of affected buildings have seen initial designs.
"I'll put up on the screen what the architects came up with, the concept sketches, that came up," Dan said, and asked the EDA for feedback prior to the breakfast. Board members urged careful messaging about early-stage development concepts and advised staff not to prematurely present details that could generate community concern. Dan said concepts for the Dinner Bell site and other properties are "very early on in the infancy in terms of what they're looking to do," and that no formal applications have been submitted.
Members asked that the presentation make clear the developer understands local expectations and preferred design intensity, particularly around housing scale. Dan also noted upcoming city projects (downtown parking lot resurfacing and striping) and confirmed benches and planters will be placed in spring.
