County approves highway surveys, maintenance contracts, salt bid and interlocal bridge agreements

Allen County Highway Engineer Wendy Reust presented several roadway and maintenance items at the June 12 meeting and the board approved each by unanimous vote. Reust described a contract with A&Z Engineering not to exceed $64,005 for a topographic survey, legal description, parcel plat and right‑of‑way staking for the Tonkel Rd and Vandolah/Schlatter Rd intersection realignment (AC#1200126).
Reust also presented a $15,800 agreement with Clean Fuels National for two inspections and two cleanings per year of above‑ground fuel storage tanks at the county highway barns. She introduced a highway utility agreement with Maysville Regional Water‑Sewer District to reimburse partial costs for relocating a sewer force main tied to the Cuba Rd Bridge #24 project and outlined interlocal bridge maintenance agreements with the City of New Haven, City of Woodburn and the towns of Grabill, Huntertown, Leo‑Cedarville and Monroeville. The board awarded the Morton Salt Inc. bid for the 2026–2027 winter season, with picked‑up prices increasing from $88/ton to $92/ton and delivered prices from $88.35/ton to $92.56/ton. Commissioners approved the suite of highway and procurement actions 3-0.
