Allen County to renew property and casualty insurance with USI; premium rises $4,443

Shinisha Warfield, risk manager for Allen County Human Resources, presented the county's 2026–2027 property and casualty insurance renewal through USI Insurance Services. Warfield said the expiring total premium of $781,667 will increase to $786,110 for the policy period July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027 — a $4,443 rise equal to roughly 0.5% — which she attributed to growth in exposures rather than rate increases.
Warfield detailed the factors behind the adjustment: county population exposure rose by nearly 5,000 residents, the county commercial auto fleet grew from 486 to 498 vehicles, and total insured property values increased by nearly $16 million to $643,736,947. The renewal includes continuation of professional broker services with USI at $40,000. Commissioners voted 3-0 to approve the renewal.
