County approves four‑year electronics recycling contract; ERI to process loose batteries

Stacie Hubbert, director of the Allen County Department of Environmental Management, presented a four‑year contract with Electronic Recyclers International (ERI) to provide electronics recycling services and reduce landfill disposal. Hubbert told commissioners that spring and fall collection events are planned and that ERI will add processing for loose batteries during this contract term. She said attendees will pay a small fee at collection events while most costs are offset by tipping fees.
Commissioner Ronald W. Turpin moved to approve the ERI agreement and Commissioner Therese M. Brown seconded; the board approved the contract 3-0. Hubbert did not provide a total contract value in the minutes; staffing and event schedules will be coordinated by the Department of Environmental Management.
