Allen County panel OKs distribution of $113,896 in Drug Free Communities funds

Monique Johnson, executive director of the Allen County Drug and Alcohol Consortium, presented the recommended annual distribution of local Drug Free Communities Fund at the June 12 Allen County commissioners meeting. She stated the total available for distribution is $113,896.31 and said the proposal divides funds among Justice, Prevention, Intervention and DAC Allocation, with applicants in each segment splitting approximately $28,474 each.
Johnson said the recommendations originated with the Grant Review Committee and were supported by the Finance Committee and the consortium's Board of Directors. Commissioner Therese M. Brown moved to approve the grant awards; Commissioner Ronald W. Turpin seconded and the motion passed 3-0. The action establishes new funding allocations to support local prevention and intervention efforts.
