Council OKs YMCA summer program contract, Chamber dues and social-district license for downtown restaurant

On April 27 the Niles City Council approved multiple items intended to support local programs and businesses. The council accepted a $15,000 contract with YMCA Greater Michiana for the Summer My Way Program funded through the CDBG Program, and approved membership dues of $18,229 to the Greater Niles Chamber of Commerce for economic development and business support, with costs shared between the General Fund and Utilities Funds. Both measures passed on roll call.
The council also approved El Rancho Viejo's application for a Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) Social District License and authorized the clerk to sign the document. In addition, the council accepted a $9,320 bid from ACE Plumbing and Heating, funded by a donation from the Michigan Gateway Foundation, for plumbing repairs at 40 Marmont Street. All items were approved without recorded opposition in the minutes.
