Board reviews policy cycle and committee reports; clarification requested on option enrollment policy
Summary
Committee chairs reported on ACT prep, grants, HVAC and routine committee business. The board asked for clarification on Policy 5004 (Option Enrollment) and requested further information on COOP athletic renewals after recent legislation.
At the Sept. 8 meeting the board heard committee reports and a policy-cycle review from committee chairs and administration.
Education Committee chair Stacie Higgins highlighted ACT preparation at the high school; Kate Sherwin provided a grant update that included information about DMG to assist with data management. Building and Grounds Committee chair Rob Elson reported progress on work orders, HVAC repairs, transportation, vehicle issues and Energy Star ratings. Policy Committee chair Jim Nemec noted policy reviews and an update by Jason Hippen. During the policy discussion Kent Blum asked for clarification specifically on Policy 5004 (Option Enrollment).
Superintendent Mark Fritch also reviewed COOP athletic renewal dates and recent legislative changes affecting COOP sports; the board requested additional information to be provided at a future meeting.
