Public Works Director Lauren Coteau told commissioners that the department completed a midyear audit of transactions for the first six months of the fiscal year and that the midyear budget will go to City Council next week, primarily to fund unanticipated HVAC repairs and other operational needs.
Coteau said the arts-and-parks grant process has changed and now requires a letter of intent before submitting a full application; projects under consideration include murals at Northwest Park and a community mural event at Fruit Garden. She also reminded commissioners that some large special events (Mayfair parade, Fourth of July fireworks) require council approval for road closures and staff overtime.
Coteau urged residents to complete two transit-related surveys (the city's annual transit survey live through March 7, and a once-every-15-years comprehensive community-based transportation plan survey) and noted seasonal irrigation and mowing work will increase with spring weather.
