Residents press Dixon council for stop sign and traffic controls near Anderson School

Lindsay Duros (S12) described multiple near‑misses and a child struck earlier the same day in a crosswalk at 4th and A, saying five children from her block had been hit in the last year. She said previously installed measures — a crossing sign, flashing beacons and raised crosswalks — have not sufficiently protected students and urged the council and engineering staff to reexamine whether a full 4‑way stop is needed. Other residents also asked the council to revisit the traffic hump and to consider alternative or additional measures if the flashing beacons prove ineffective.
Council members asked staff to agendize a revisit of the stop‑sign request and to monitor the flashing beacons installed at the intersection; the mayor and staff advised monitoring the new devices for a few weeks to evaluate their effect then return to council if not effective.
