Committee approves training- and technology-focused grants and contracts — ALERRT, microgrants, Axon Evidence, Motorola work

On July 30 the Public Safety Committee authorized multiple grant applications and professional-service contracts intended to bolster training and technology for county public-safety agencies. The committee authorized applications for the DOJ COPS Office School Violence Prevention Program to purchase ALERRT training equipment (maximum grant allowance $500,000) and for the FY2026 Microgrants Program for law-enforcement equipment (maximum allowance $200,000). Motions for these grant applications were recorded with seven ayes.
Separately, the committee authorized an application for New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Law Enforcement Technology (LETech) funding (maximum allowed $125,000) noted to support purchase of a five-year contract with Axon Evidence for unlimited digital evidence storage. The meeting also approved two Motorola Solutions contracts: a server and software purchase for SCADA/CTI not to exceed $16,144.80 and installation of a new receiver for the Fish Hill Tower not to exceed $12,214.21. Motions for the Motorola contracts were recorded with seven ayes (Kehl).
